Pinzi Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 1, 2026
Pinzi is an app for learning Chinese: you take a photo or paste a text and the app shows you the pinyin, translation, vocabulary and grammar. This policy explains what data we use, why, and how you can delete it.
1. Who is responsible
The controller of your data is the company Hoki S.A.S., and you can write to us at Pinziapp@gmail.com with any question or request about your data.
2. What data we use and why
- Photos and texts you choose to scan or paste. We send them to our server and to a cloud artificial-intelligence service provider, only to generate the lesson, explanations, examples and tutor answers. We do not store your photos on our servers. A small thumbnail of the photo and the lesson text are kept in your history.
- Your account. The app creates a random account code. With that code we store your saved words, scan history, study statistics and review progress, so you can use them on your phone and your computer.
- Sign in with Google or Apple (optional). If you use it, we receive the user identifier and email address provided by Google or Apple and link them to your account code. We never receive your password.
- Usage counters. We count how many scans and requests you make each day to apply the free-plan limit. These counters do not contain your photos or texts.
- Subscriptions. Payments are processed by Google Play or the App Store; we do not receive your card details. A subscription-management provider tells us whether your account code has an active Premium plan.
- Phone permissions. We use the camera and your photos only when you choose to scan or pick an image.
- Voice. To read text aloud, we send the Chinese sentence to our server and to the artificial intelligence provider, which generates the audio. We store that audio linked only to the sentence, not to your account, so it does not have to be generated twice. If there is no connection, the app uses your device's voices.
3. What we do not do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show ads or use advertising or analytics trackers.
- We do not use your photos or texts to train artificial-intelligence models of our own.
4. Who we share data with
Only with providers we need to run the app, who process data on our behalf and under their own terms of service:
- a cloud artificial-intelligence service provider (processes the photos and texts you send to learn);
- a cloud hosting provider (server and storage for your account);
- Google and Apple, if you use their sign-in or buy a subscription in their stores, and a subscription-management provider;
- content delivery networks that serve the fonts and stroke-order data (they receive your IP address when downloading them).
These providers may be located outside your country. We may also disclose data when required by law.
5. How long we keep data
We keep your words, history and statistics for as long as your account exists. Photos you send to learn are not stored on our servers after the lesson is generated. Technical server logs are kept briefly to fix errors.
6. How to delete your account and data
In the app, go to Settings → Account → Delete my account and data. You can also do it from a browser at pinzi.app, or email us at Pinziapp@gmail.com with your account code. This deletes your words, history, statistics, usage counters and the link to Google or Apple. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription: cancel it in Google Play or the App Store.
7. Your rights
You can access, update, correct and delete your data, and withdraw your consent at any time, under the data-protection laws that apply to you (for example, the EU GDPR). Write to us at Pinziapp@gmail.com and we will reply as soon as possible.
8. Security
All communication with our server is encrypted (HTTPS). Your account code works like a key: do not share it with other people.
9. Children
Pinzi is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has sent us data, write to us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date above and let you know in the app when the change is significant.
